The BC Medical Association, BC College of Physicians and Surgeons, and the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for BC have jointly published a revised and expanded "Privacy Toolkit" for BC physicians.
The new Privacy Toolkit and the PITO Privacy & Security requirements are closely aligned, including use of the "Ten Principles for Protecting Patient Information" (PDF) framework, a very similar Privacy and Security Checklist (PDF), and common use and reference to the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) Privacy Wizard.
Physicians are strongly encouraged to refer to the new Privacy Toolkit as they consider EMR implementation or changes, and any other changes to how information is managed on paper or in electronic form.
The new Privacy Toolkit is available at: http://www.bcma.org/publications-media/privacy-toolkit
