The process for selecting the six companies eligible for the provision of EMR systems for BC physicians receiving PITO funding has been managed by the BC Government's Strategic Acquisitions and Technology Procurement (SATP) branch on behalf of the Ministry of Health and PITO.
On December 11th, 2007, the Ministry of Health signed contracts with six successful proponents: Clinicare Corporation, EMIS Inc., Intrahealth Canada Ltd, Med Access Inc., Osler Systems Management Inc. and Wolf Medical Systems.
All six companies must successfully complete conformance testing in order to be "PITO Qualified" and therefore eligible for selection by BC physicians through the PITO Program. The successful proponents may request conformance testing dates as soon as they are ready.
More information about the six successful proponents is available on the Qualified EMR Vendors page.
Signing of the EMR contracts is an important milestone in the launch of the PITO program. PITO can now proceed to the next steps with the five PITO pilot groups, and begin preparation for the provincial rollout which will begin later in 2008.
