The PITO Physician User Group (PUG) Tool is a web and email electronic newsletter tool developed by PITO to support the sharing of relevant PITO program and EMR related information with BC physicians. It is an easy to use and peer driven.
Physician leadership and collaboration are important ingredients for success when adopting an EMR for the first time or when capitalizing on an existing investment to achieve additional goals. The PUG Tool will help physicians stay connected to current, local, PITO and EMR related news. In addition, it will help foster local networks of physicians interested in health information technology and provide a venue for organizing face-to-face PUG meetings.
The tool supports the creation of Physician User Groups (PUGs) within geographic areas, specialities, or unique interest groups. Each PUG is created by a Physician Leader (PITO Local Physician Champion).
All communications will be distributed to physicians by a Physician Leader, allowing them to add additional comments and community specific content, ensuring that newsletters are relevant to physicians and the communities they serve.
Physicians who are interested in receiving electronic newsletters from PITO and their peers should visit the PUG tool site and sign-up for one or more geographic or special interest PUGs (such as for specialists). You do not need to go back to the site once you have signed up as you will receive the information by email, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
The types and frequency of communications will vary depending on the PUG. Three common types of communication are:
